Awaiting Final Approval (Stage 4)

I have received final approval and request to pay DUC fees today, 629 days after my biometrics in Lisbon (2022/09/30). Wow a wait.

Just received my families (wife + 3 minors), approximately 6 weeks after I received my own approval. Now to pay their fees & receive the cards. We did everything through Lisbon.

NOTE: My lawyers indicated that it is taking about 2 months to receive your residency card after your fees are paid.

Just received approval for one dependent. Lawyers will pay DUC, then we wait for the card. Still no news on second dependent. (Application November 2021, biometrics Porto January 2023)

My husband and I had our lawyers file a lawsuit today. I had my biometrics last June, and my husband’s was in July, both were in Lisbon. We bought one-way tickets to Madeira September 30th, we’ll fly there with or without our resident cards.

Addendum- We filed a lawsuit on May 17, 2024. I do not know if that resulted in the approval or if it is a coincidence. (I am skeptical that AIMA would respond that quickly.)

Hello all, I got notified about my approval today, June 24! I did Biometrics in Lisbon in September 5 2022. No lawsuit was filed.

Based on recent activity, it sure sounds like processing has unfrozen. Only 9 months after pausing! Wow!

my wife’s card got issued on 5th June and it has just been received by our lawyer. However, we have just noticed that it has come with a mistake. The card is wrongly mentioning her place of birth. We are residing in another country than our citizenship since more than 2 decades. The newly issued card is mentioning her birth place as our current city of residence with country as our country. Rest all are ok.
WILL IT BE AN ISSUE IF SHE CONTINUES WITH THIS CARD? Will it be possible to correct this mistake of AIMA while renewing the next card, if we continue with this now?
We are worried, if we submit the card to AIMA to rectify the mistake, it might take again few months while we would like to visit to Portugal in this summer.

Updating the Lisbon tracker for those interested. The September 2022 cohort seems basically complete, but still only @chetcari3105 from October, excluding the court cases.

What difference does it make for you if this little detail is incorrect on your wife’s card?
Or who else do you think will care?

Replacing a GV card is a practically impossible venture, based on some prior reports here on this forum. People lost their cards and could not replace them.
So I suggest you live with this card for 2 years and then correct the error at your next renewal (or don’t bother correcting at all).

Thanks for this update, much appreciated!

Hello all!
I was happy that I together with my family did our biometric on May 2023 and was waiting from that time for our cards, but it seems there is no news.

I just went through posts here and I think some of you opened a court case for the long delay on getting your cards. Is it the case?

I myself were able to get biometric appointment through the court. Should I try it again?

How long does it take from biometric to card? I did it in Lisbon.

The answer to your question is in the attachment from Chris, after an update from a couple of posts above yours: Awaiting Final Approval (Stage 4) - #1815 by cj807.
AIMA has just approved @Berserk86 who did biometrics Sept 22.
The colour green for those with final approval/cards and the colour orange for those still waiting to obtain final approval, like yourself.

There are some recent indications that AIMA is moving faster now than before. And as you know, the waiting time to get a card will eventually be counted towards the residency period for those who use residency to obtain citizenship, but the precise rules on this have not been published.
There are separate threads for those who went the legal route, and won (or lost), to speed up the process. Is it Lawsuit time? (Processing times). You may want to look there to see if the legal route makes sense for you.

A friend’s lawyer just sent him this update. I’m curious if others heard anything similar?

'Some fresh and positive news from the Council of Ministers which took place yesterday, 25 June 2024 and that starts implementing some of the policies announced 3 weeks ago with the approval of the so-called “Migration Action Plan”:

The Government decided to approve a Resolution which creates the so-called “Special Mission Unit for the Recovery of Pending Processes at AIMA”, which will be responsible for analyzing and deciding pending processes and which will operate until 02 June 2025. Under this policy, 300 people shall be hired and fully dedicated to administrative processing of pending processes and assistance to applicants. According to the president of AIMA, there 412.000 cases pending (342.000 are expression of interest applications and 70.000 are normal applications from D1 to D8 and GV). It was said that AIMA must be able to start delivering 8.400 approval decisions per week (currently, only 2.000 cases could be approved).’

Has been in the news, and is covered in depth in the “AIMA takes over SEF” thread.

Another Update:

My lawyers have received my card, which expires June 2026. Approximately 8 weeks after I paid the fees.

Only thing pending is receiving cards for dependents.

Hi Guys,

Wondering if anyone has seen a general slowdown in delivery of cards, especially from Porto. I paid my wife’s DUC on 10th Apr and we are still waiting for her card.

Also wonder if anyone has received their card from Porto for DUC’s received since Apr. I did check the database and it doesnt look very positive, but there is very limited data for Porto and I wasn’t sure, if its updated.

Thanks

Indeed, dependent cards seem to be delayed. I received mine within two weeks after duc payment, and for dependents , we reached almost two months and still nothing.
