I’ll be at a bar in Lisbon next week for my biometrics. I’ll have a drink for all of youšŸ˜‚

Sounds like we’re on the same timeline. Nov 2021, pre-approval last May. Biometrics notification last Dec and did them in Lisbon in Jan.

Good luck, and please keep us posted.

IIRC, we are on a similar timeline. Glad your biometrics are finally coming up!

I have to say, I agree with all of the frustration expressed by folks in this group, and I have felt it as well, and I’m glad that we have this place to share our angst. When I was in Portugal, though, for our biometrics (twice for me - once in Porto for the dependents, once in Lisbon just for me, within a couple of weeks), sitting in a bar having a glass of wine, or dining on some pasteis de nata, or strolling the streets, I was able to remember why this is all (probably!) worth the frustration. Enjoy your visit!

You described it so nice! I wish it’s my turn soon to stroll the streets of Lisbon and have a cup of coffee with my family in some cafe. I’ve been planning to use my vacation for the trip of biometrics for so long but it never came🤣.

I definitely sympathize! Ours went from planning a vacation to being in Portugal for just 48-72 hours or so each time, but it was still enjoyable!

Hi everyone, My lawyer submitted my application last week without legalized documents. What could be the possible consequences? Will this delay my application being analyzed for pre-approval or being rejected? Has anyone has similar experience?

@kent.bklim

Yes, I submitted my application myself directly on ARI site, ahead of my lawyer and without many required documents attached. This registered my petition and I was given a reference number (i.e. password) for tracking my progress on the ARI web portal. Later, as all documents were in order, my lawyer completed the submission.

The bottom line, your probably did a right thing: start the process first, and add the missing documents later. Ask your lawyer for the generated password to the ARI site, and you can track your progress alongside of him/her.

Good luck!

Hi Roman, is your application already submitted? Or you just register on ARI?
Unfortunately, my lawyer did not use my email to register as the applicant :frowning: and has submitted my application without legalized documents.

Yes, it has been submitted a while ago. I have already passed the biometrics (this January).

Don’t worry, many applicants have their lawyers submit their applications under law firm’s e-mail - it makes it easier for them, I guess. You can (that is, your lawyer can) continue to submit the documents under the ARI site once they are ā€œlegalisedā€ (do you mean: apostilled?). The key is to get started, and you are now already in the system. Just furnish the documents ASAP to start your clock rolling in earnest.

Thanks Roman for clarifying, I will check with my lawyer again if ARI site still allow to submit more documents as my application is submitted and paid. My documents have been sent to Portugal consulate to legalized as my country is not a state of Apostille convention.

Kent,

If your application is already submitted and the fees (€ 533.00 per person or so) are paid, you are in good shape - your case is considered ā€œpendingā€. You can even move to Portugal under this status as ā€œirregular residentā€: you can live there, but not travel to other E.U. countries.

Wow, not being in a country that is a part of Apostille convention must be interesting… :slightly_smiling_face:

Good luck with your process!

Hello, it’s likely somewhere above but how do I edit/update my timeline on the form/spreadsheet. I completed it for pre-approval and want to add the biometrics data
Thx

I applied December 2021, going to Portimao next week for my biometric appointment. Not sure why it’s not Lisbon, to be honest. Does anybody have any idea?

It’s just wherever your lawyer chose

You’re lucky!

I guess that must be the reason we got approved slightly quicker…

I know that they haven’t given bimetric appointments to December 2021 applications yet. Especially the biometrics ranking is arranged according to the payment date of the analysis fee. As far as I know, a biometric appointment has been opened for those who have paid the analysis fee until 30.11.2021

Likely where the lawyer could get soonest.
Mine was Porto, 2 family members (different dates) in Lisbon, and one in Funchal over a 7 week period. I was told the chances of all together were very slim and far ahead in time

Edit… applied 29 Nov 2001!
