I was reading that there is no change in the law concerning the GV
Where was you reading that?
Hey, I have read that there is some fundamental changes in Golden Visa.
It seems that our process already started.
As an example, if you have submitted your golden visa application in January 2019 and you were granted the golden visa in January 2021, you will be able to start your citizenship application by January 2014 (instead of starting the citizenship application by January 2026).
I verified from a few sources.
Much discussion on this on the thread below:
https://community.nomadgate.com/t/wait-time-now-counts-toward-5-year-residency
There’s an entire thread with 130+ responses about that over here:
Note Golden Visas were not the primary object of this new legislation. And as you’ll read in the thread above, it’s still unclear what ‘start’ date will be used w.r.t. GVs.
Hello, is there a site where we can see pre approvals? We applied sept 2022 and havent heard anything since! Thx
They are still processing Dec 2021 applications.
Why, this one, of course!
I personally like the calendar view, as it shows any signs of life at SEF/AIMA. Notice how December shows almost nothing… and they’re all 2021 applicants
There’s also the detailed view, with a ‘Pre-approval’ column if you want to filter/sort on just those.
Tell all your GV friends. The more data that goes in here, the more accurate it gets.
Ok, I have put my details in ! Thanks
In a whatsapp group I’m in, someone just reported a bunch of pre-approvals for December 21 applications coming through (he’s either a lawyer or immigration consultant I think).
Please encourage them (or their clients) to add their data to the tracker. If they’re applicants, it’s great to know where you stand in this black hole. If they’re lawyers/consultants, the data they can glean from this tracker will make them appear even more clued-in.
Just got posted by my lawyer that one case was approved for 12/28/2021, while my case which is a day before that date has not been approved. I am devastated honestly
I would be glad they are starting up again! Your application should be up “soon”.
They’ve never been perfectly in order by date
Closer now than they ever have been, apparently!
I wouldn’t be devastated. With the new rules about citizenship applications, it counts in your favour for your card to take longer, as it will cost you less in visa fees! Unless you want to move to Portugal immediately I guess.
Is the law certain and apply to GVs though? I read the articles mentioned above but it still seemed too good to be true……
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but it was my understanding that this may not cost less in visa fees because you need to maintain the residence permit while applying for citizenship, which can take two to three years. So, if you apply in 2022, get your first permit in 2024, renew in 2025, apply for citizenship in 2027, you’d still need to do the 2027 renewal.
Again, please let me know if my understanding is wrong. We’re all trying to figure out what the rulebook is.
But you’ll probably save at least one renewal.
Say you apply in 2022 and get your first card in 2024. You apply for citizenship in 2029, five years after your first card, and get your passport in 2031. Meanwhile you renewed your card in 2026, 2028 and 2030
Under new rules, if they work as we hope, you apply for citizenship in 2027, get your passport in 2029 and avoid the 2030 renewal.
