Awaiting Pre-Approval (Stage 2)

Ah, that makes more sense. But still the Brazilians would be delayed in their biometrics, no? Unless there’s an arrangement for them to do it over there.

i identify as brazilian, hook me up!

Thanks for this information. I’m still not 100% sure about June 2022 applications going through yet since we haven’t seen a single one here.

Also, haven’t seen any speed ups so I wonder how useful would OSAE and Portuguese Lawyers bar association be in processing these.

As far as pre-approvals go, AIMA has not processed any since mid-February i.e, almost 3 months now. They did start june-22 main applicant pre-approval processing but halted back then and are yet to resume.

That’s discouraging info. Thanks for sharing. Where did that information come from?

From my lawyer. And every moderately sized law firm in Portugal has atleast one dedicated resource liasioning with AIMA and government on GVs.

My lawyer also mentioned this in an email today.

Just curious and this may be a ridiculous question:

Does anyone know why AIMA would jump/pass over from Jan 2022 applicants (dependant) to June 2022? My husband is still awaiting approval and lawyer assures us application is not lost, filed online, in the que…

Hi!

I know of one confirmed instance of june-22 main applicant getting pre-approval. I do not have an answer to your query but maybe qeues are maintained at the level of application centers e.g. for lisbon, comporta, faro etc. there may be different qeues in syatem or there maybe some other reason.
It is not unusual to have people receive pre-approvals before those who applied earlier than them.

Thank you!

There are relatively few applications from Jan-Jun 2022 because the online application system was closed. Only paper applications were able to be submitted.

@Ohbee - Thank you for the info!

I thought that was the case, but my lawyer insisted the application was submitted online. The application does appear in the dashboard for submission 01.20.22 /paid 01.24.2022. I will circle back with the attorney. Much appreciation!

No problem. There’s also no guarantee applications are processed exactly in order. More like “roughly chronological.”

Overall, so darn frustrating, but thankful for the Nomad community, the knowledge, and generous spirit of assistance.

I believe that family applications could still be submitted online, just not primary applicants. My daughter’s was submitted in January 2022 online (I am primary applicant and submitted in Oct 2021). Whole family was approved in May 2022.

Thank you, @Beanieskis. I remember you noting that as your dates are close to mine.

What I cannot figure out is why my spouse has not been approved in the last 12 months as my pre-approval Feb, 2023 and biometrics, Apr, 2023 in Portimão, and still nothing on either front.

The only thing I can think of is that we don’t (yet…) reside in Lisbon, but other than that we’re at a loss as to when he will finally see some movement.

Appreciate your feedback!!

It is odd. It previously seemed that if you’d submitted family members’ applications before they reviewed the main applicant’s file, then they’d all be approved at the same time. If they were submitted later then they’d be assessed in their own place in the queue.
I would be concerned in your case that your wife’s application was lost? Could be grounds to file a case if you’re so inclined, on the basis that the dates on your residency cards will be out of sync?

Trying to avoid the lawsuit route, but might have no choice. Yes, definitely concerned about dates of residency cards a year or more apart. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Anyone aware of this rule ?

Good spot @pichki.k - I have replied in the broader “AIMA takes over SEF” thread.
