Capital Gains Tax

Sold a property in Portugal 18 months ago. Solicitor asking about my income ,regarding capital gains tax. Do I have to pay this, I no longer visit Portugal

Yes, you do…if you already have the money, have no assets in the EU, have left the EU and the tax treaty between your current residence and Portugal doesn’t include assistance in debt recovery, then it will be difficult, time consuming and unlikely to be cost effective for Portugal to recover money without your cooperation.

I am a bit shocked ,I thought this was all done and dusted at the time of the sale of my property, wasent expecting having to deal with this now. Thanks for the info
