Hello all,
Has anyone been rejected for an invalid document before on the 4th stage of nationality process?
Do you know how many days they give us to present a new document?
I know that they are supposed to send an official letter to home explaining which document is invalid and after that they give some time to deliver new documents but I do not know how many days…
For the context, I went to IRN to change my address on the application and when I went there they told me my language certificate was invalid and eventually I would receive a letter home… now i am not sure what to do if i should try to enroll a new course or not because if i can make it in time…
Anyone with a similar situation before?
@Arminasu are you working with a lawyer? Also try the “Portuguese Nationality” group on Facebook.
Was your language course a PLA course? If so it should be recognized for citizenship. Did you contact your course provider?
Hey thanks! No I do not have a lawyer and sadly I did not know my course provider was not eligible I have reached out to them last week and they confirmed their course/certificate was specific for corporate courses hence not PLA and not eligible to apply nationality.
Will try to ask on the facebook group as well!
That is probably something a lawyer would have checked before applying.
If you are able to pass a CIPLE test that might be your fastest option. But don’t know if it would be fast enough to keep your application date.
Worst case scenario you just have to restart the citizenship from scratch once you have a valid A2 certificate right?
Is your application was rejected or IRN asks for additional documents? Those are two completely different cases. On the first, your application is rejected, and the only thing you could do is to go to the court. However, in the case yr language certificate is not acceptable, I guess, it would be hard to win.
If IRN askes for additional documents, it sends the paper letter to the address provided. The letter says what documents they require, and how much time you have.
Usually, it is 30 working days.
You could request an extension of that period. Hopefully, IRN will give it to you.
The fastest option is to pass CIPLE exam OUT of Portugal (because all slots are taken in Portugal) in November, however you will unlikely get the certificate before January-February.
And, yes, I know people, who were rejected, but it was on the base of AIMA contagem de tempo, which on the stage 3 gave IRN the reply “does not meet the requirements”. Those applicants decided not to prolong their residencies and do not have valid ones at the time of check.
