Contagem de Tempo

I am not sure how clearly I can explain my words.

Here is what you wrote

It literally means that if Cdt is included from the beginning, it may harm the process.

How can it possibly harm the process? :face_with_monocle:

I am only saying about this particular quoted sentence above which I cannot find any reason/logic in it.

@live2learn
I think he means

including it early on is safe, or at least unlikely to create issues

My lawyer is delaying my Citizenship apllication, because he keeps waiting for an appointment to request my CdT. I am getting so frustrated. I know that based on the new requirements my 5 years would have been in October 2024. So from what I am reading here, I can submit the Citizenship application without the CdT. Is this correct?

That used to be the normal way. IRN requests the CdT from AIMA many months after you apply.

I have seen people reporting they just emailed AIMA and got CdT that way. Is your lawyer sure he needs an in person appointment?

That’s what he tells me, but I have also seen that people use the email option. I honestly have a very frustrating lawyer…

My thinking is that I should just submit then without the CdT. It is just delaying my application and if IRN is going to request their own anyway, then I should just go ahead. It’s just that my lawyer is recommending it.

Why don’t you try the email option yourself? If it works I believe AIMA just emails you a DUC you can pay, then they mail the CdT

I emailed them on April 7th then followed up on April 25th. Have not received a response at all. I’m not really sure emailing them works.

You attached the official form for requesting CdT?

Yes attached the official form, photo of my passport and front/back of my residence card.

Now it seems that Portugal needs lawyers from CPLP who are able to physically queue… the portuguese lawyers only want to stay in office and get paid without moving their feet…

Extremely rude to generalize based on nationality

My Portuguese lawyers are extremely hands on and among other things were happy to accompany me to faro from Lisboa for my biometrics

I don’t think that accompanying clients to biometric show the positive energy. It is a mandatory duty of lawyers. All lawyers accompany clients to biometric. If clients could to go to biometric alone, they wouldn’t have hired lawyer from the first place.

I really hope that I am wrong and my comment is nonsense. Because many of NGers here need good lawyers who can actually queue in front of Aima and not just send emails only.

Doesn’t AIMA recently announce special hours for lawyers only? So hopefully lawyers don’t have to do as much queueing compared to non lawyers.

If the lawyers are really working hard, they should have known about it and this little piece of F-ing paper should have been obtained long time ago. If the lawyers do not know their rights to walk into Aima or they know but do not even bother to try it, then I am speechless.

It’s a very recent change - maybe ask your lawyers about it? Lawyers secure preferential services at AIMA - The Portugal News

Lawyers now have preferential service and a reserved time slot at the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), as part of a code of good practices which has now been formalised.

It was one quick example to counter your bigoted narrative.

Don’t be mistaken queueing for CdT to attending biometric. It is totally different. Biometric is by appointment. No need to queue or whatsoever. CdT is a different story. To get it done quickly, one needs to queue and stops being lazy staying in office and writing emails.

How many people here have been pushing their lawyers to obtain CdT? And how many actually got it?

I also asked my lawyer to do it 5 months ago. They said it would take 2 weeks. I said: “ok, pls proceed”. Heard nothing since then. At the same time, I did it myself because I knew I could not trust the honey-butter words from them. Finally I got it about 3 months ago and until now no words from lawyer about CdT. One thing for sure is that queueing to get CdT is way faster than asking lawyers. You can save 6months to 1 year (or even more). Let’s see when my lawyer is going to tell me about CdT - maybe never!

Seems like you were able to apply for the CdT in person which unfortunately I can’t do since I’m not in Portugal. I asked my lawyer to request it back in January as well, but still haven’t heard anything.

What date did your CdT confirm as your official start?
