Has anyone gone through the D7 renewal in Portugal? Any advice or tips on where to start, sites, links? anything useful please.
We did our own visa application back in March 23 but still not received our residence cards and not sure how to chase it up? so again any sites, links?
Just got through first step on renewal last week. My original visa expired in November 24 so I started calling and emailing last year around this time. The information changed more than once from Portugal in the interim. Finally AIMA emailed me on a Monday, I paid late that day but after banking hours. Late Wednesday they told me I had meeting on Friday and I had until Thursday to load all documents onto their portal. That part was pretty simple since I knew generally what was needed. During the meeting which my fiance came to she asked the question about GV wait times and they are longer. He was a temp as PT has finally started to catch up on the paperwork. I will hopefully receive my new card in a few weeks.
Hi @chinbawambi Thankyou for responding. You say youre waiting for a new residence card since renewing? Does that mean the one you were originally issued when first applying is obsolete and youll get a new one? I only ask because were still trying to obtain the one we should have been issued at time of our visa and biometrics approval. Also did you need to provide the card at time of renewal? Thank you
There are a number of documents you have to provide such as proving your income level, address, and PT tax status. You have to bring your passport and expired card as well. I would contact both AIMA and IRN to find out where your cards are.
Unfortunately, delays are not unusual at the moment, many applicants have been waiting for months due to backlogs at AIMA. You can check your case by logging into the Renewals Portal: https://portal-renovacoes.aima.gov.pt/
If you still don’t hear back within a reasonable time, I recommend visiting your local AIMA office or asking a Portuguese immigration lawyer to follow up.
