I have AIMA appointment coming up in 2 weeks and I still don’t have my declaration of non-debt ready. I know that it’s instantly available from the online portal, but I found, very late in the process, that my tax representative (e-residence.com) has never registered my NIF with the portal and now I need to wait for the paper letter with the password to arrive.
The e-residence website says that it might take 3-4 weeks for the letter to arrive, too late for my scheduled appointment.
Any words of wisdom, how can I obtain the declaration of non-debt in the remaining 2 weeks? I am in USA, have tickets to arrive to Portugal only one day before the AIMA appointment.
A quick google search suggests you can still obtain the declaration in person at the AT offices. I suggest you book an appointment with the AT office somewhere near your AIMA appointment location.
I faced a similar situation with the Social Security declaration as my SEF appointment was at short notice, and my lawyers could not get an appointment for themselves at Social Security (allegedly…). So I took the matter in my own hands and got the said declaration in person a few hours before my SEF visit.
Easy and not to worry, I assume you have a lawyer represeting your application. If that’s the case, send a Power of Atorney to her/him and it shall be done ontime. If you dont have the document in time, AIMA shall give you time to submit the same and it is usually within 21/30 days with unlimited extensions. Usually the password arrives quickly (within 7 days in my case). If it doesn’t that’s not a cause of concern to begin with.
