Going without a lawyer for ARI renewals?

Hi - this has been brought up a few times in the thread dedicated to the current (online) ARI renewals process. Please continue your discussion there…

New online ARI renewal process (Feb 2026)

Just got the confirmation of submission with a QR code. Let’s see how long it takes from here. Tbh I can’t see any use of the lawyers in this process. You can do everything on your own. Apart from certifying the documents.

Can’t not see why one needs lawyers for this. If you can go to Notary office yourself (which cost me 43 Euros to certify my resident card and sign the Termo responsibilidade in front of the notary officer), it saves lots of money!
