How does New kid born outside Portugal get enrolled in ARI application

We have a bit of a Unique situation so hoping to get some idea

Golden visa applicants
Applied in 2021, wife husband, kid and main applicants single parent

Main applicant got card in Oct 24
Spouse and kid got card in Mar 25
Parents biometric is in Apr 26

We are planning a trip in January for 3 of us to complete 14 days stay requirement to apply for citizenship in late jan or early Feb (before 5 year mark)

Expecting another kid in Aug 26 and we don’t want to give birth in Portugal, mum just wants her family support during last trimester and delivery.

I am guessing once the child is born, we will add to ongoing golden visa application but how will the citizenship application for new kid play out?

I am meeting with lawyers in 10 days but hoping to find some basic info to prepare myself for questions. Thanks in advance

I have my residency card and submitted an ARI dependent application for the new kid born in the US about 3-4 months back. All my lawyer asked for was the birth certificate with apostile, and a copy of every page of his brand new passport.

I’ve been putting off talking with the lawyer about later steps like citizenship, so I’d be interested in what you find out, but here’s a few relevant things I’ve run across:

The timeline for the citizenship application should play out the same as everyone else for the time being: eligible to apply 5 years from application and after also having received the card, with the laws possibly drastically changing in the next 2-3 months.

The requirements are fuzzier. There’s a ‘ties to Portugal’ requirement for minors which doesn’t have concrete criteria.

The important conversation I’ve seen suggested is the strategic planning around which family members apply for citizenship and when, which go for the permanent residency, and which keep renewing temporary residencies. The complications being that the dependents lose their ARI eligibility if the primary applicant applies for and becomes a citizen, and that permanent residency requires proof of permanent housing, which would be an additional hurdle for fund investors.

First time dad over here – congrats on the next kid!
