We used IAS to file a lawsuit for my dependents to get final approval. When we enquired a few months ago they were reluctant, in May they were enthusiastic about doing it. We got final approval for one dependent, not the other. Still waiting for the card. There were four weeks between the lawsuit filing and the final approval notice, so we don’t know if it was a coincidence or if the lawsuit worked.
I used NSM for my lawsuit, but not my application. Maybe you read my previous posts, and yes I’m happy and recommend you get a quote from them. Can’t comment on being better than the others because I didn’t use the others you mention.
Finally, finally, finally an update on the rest of the family (spouse + 2 dependents)! Timeline below:

Application (+3 family): 29 November 2021
Pre-Approval (main): 29 July 2022
Pre-Approval (+1 family): 12 August 2022
Pre-Approval (+2 family): 23 August 2022
Biometrics (+ family: Porto): 30 January 2023
Biometrics (main: Lisbon): 9 February 2023
Summons Filed: 16 November 2023
Judge Ruled (Denied): 12 January 2024
Summons Filed Again: 5 February 2024
Judge Ruled (Approved): 3 April 2024
Additional Document Requested: 16 April 2024
DUC issued (main): 6 May 2024
Payment made (main): 10 May 2024
Card dated (main): 17 May 2024

DUC issued (family): 25 Jul 2024
Payment made (family): 30 Jul 2024
The payment made time is in the future, but I plan on paying the DUCs that day to maximize the amount of time my dependents have next summer to spend their time in Portugal, since both kids will have summer internships, and it is hard to know what the dates for those will be.
Dears,
I am also planning to file law suit after seeing responses in the form, i want to ask , what are sense of emergency court consider as an urgent or wise versa?
It’s seems that suffering hardship is required to get an urgent case accepted. It’s not clear what the definition of hardship is, and again this seems to vary by judge/ court. There are many past cases, mine included, where the hardship of ‘living in Portugal’ without residence card was sufficient. FWIW looks tougher now than in the past to get cases accepted as urgent. Good luck
Hi, did they give main application initial or first time card for 1 year or 2years validity?
How much did they charge you for the lawsuit, what were your total costs?
2 years, thankfully!
I applied in 2021 using IAS. Currently, they want 1,500 euros to file a lawsuit, which I consider too high.
Update:
My 22-year-old daughter received her card today. It is valid for 2 years and was issued on 29 July. She is the last member of the family to get her residence permit.
We all applied in 2021 so it has been a long wait.
Congratz!!! How much was the issuance fee for her first card?
Thanks! 6045.20 euros
One of my dependent got 1st card in March and paid 5700. Now it is over 6k. I have no clue how the fee works. But it does not matter. Having card is the most important thing!
Momo, would love to hear if you went with someone and how much it cost. GCS is charging 2075 Euros to file the subpoena which seems a little high.
I paid 2750 Euro (for 4 person) to my law firm, 13 May 2024 the file was submitted, we were informed to come for finger print on 6th of September. Initially, I thought I paid more, but it paid back.
SEF Registration- 30-03-2023
SEF Analysis paid- 05-04-2023
Law suit submitted 13-05-2024
Finger print 06-09-2024
To be honest I dont know and I didnt ask that part.
We dont live in Portugal yet but we have an intention to do so when we have the cards.
Same as us. Thanks for the reply, and looking forward to your future updates, we’ll be joining the lawsuit queue soon.
I was informed my lawyers today that I’ve won my lawsuit against AIMA. They have 20 working days to approve the application and issue the residence card. I filed in back in mid-April. We live in Portugal.
