The discussion in Parliament relates to residence visas and temporary stay visas to nationals of a State in which the Community of Portuguese Language Countries (CPLP) Agreement is in force. The Government wants to move forward with the creation of a limited-duration permit that will allow the legal entry of immigrants into Portugal with the objective of seeking work, simplify procedures and open up the possibility of temporary stay or residence visas for family members.
This is in keeping with other measures to simplify procedures for immigration and employment of workers with skills in short supply in Portugal. One will have to review the final law when published, but at present this proposed change in immigration laws is not relevant to GV. It is intended to facilitate applications for lusophone visas.
