New AIMA Process - Receiving Final Approval/Residency Card

is your portal still showing Transferred SIISEF ?

I filed the lawsuit in February 2026, but the judge accepted the case for review on 10 June 2026.
I do not have access to the portal; only my lawyer does, so I cannot check the status myself.

I asked my attorney at one of the bigger law firms (VCA) if they’ve received cards for any of the applicants who were in the big wave of biometrics appointments earlier in the year and they haven’t had a single approval yet.

Same with Global Citizen Solutions as of last week.

Received card on 29th July, 12 days after the approval.

Hi all,

My AIMA appointment is coming up. All my documents were submitted electronically in advance, so I am trying to understand what still happens at the counter and what I should bring anyway.

For anyone who has been recently:

  1. Since everything was uploaded, did they still ask to see physical originals? Which ones?
  2. Did anyone get turned away or rescheduled because they did not bring a paper copy of something that had already been submitted online?
  3. Did they re-check the criminal record certificate at the appointment, or did the electronic version suffice? Any issue with the 3 month validity being counted from the appointment date rather than the submission date?

My law firm prepared a packet for me to submit at the appointment. I can’t speak to what was in the packet. The top form was definitely a letter from them; it was not something I had submitted.

For the validity of the criminal background check, my understanding is that the date the check was actually performed starts the 90-day clock. Not the appointment date, not the submission date.

Under the “old process” it was always the appointment date.
I would definitely recommend bringing fresh valid PCC as of the appointment date.

Speak to your lawyers.

Hi Nick. AIMA did require and look at the original paper criminal record check with apostille during our appointment. It also required us to submit a new one for my wife, to receive the card. The validity of the criminal check is 3 months from the date the certificate was issued.

Adding my odyssey here for what it’s worth:

Initial application (property investment): Nov 2021

Mass law suit that went nowhere: sometime in 2023?

AIMA biometrics appointment Lisbon: 20 April 2026

Payment of 6k € made at biometrics appointment, not sure if this was DUCs or what the difference is. I’ve attached a redacted photo of my invoice from the day.

No word yet in first temporary residence permit card as of 31 August 2025.

I can’t seem to find the link to the spreadsheet created on this thread, can somebody share it please?

Exactly four people in the database have;

Update - there are now nine granted ARI cards in the database from this year’s biometrics surge! The most recent biometric appointment date in the list is 8 Jan.

Five new cards since July 16. They’re really cooking over there

My February biometrics appointment was rescheduled to April because the system happened to crash that day while I was in the waiting room. I can only imagine how many extra months it will be until I get my card at this rate.
