Hi, my GV will expire in May 2025 and I am already worried that there will be no appointments to renew it. Does anyone know if they are still giving the option to renew it online, and till when is this option valid?
Check out this thread for the current situation:
Short answer, yes, online renewals are back - for some at least. Probably too early to know what will be happening next year, much less later this year.
I don’t think you can renew 9 months before expiry.
Yes, just worrying ahead as will be filing for naturalization in the next three months, and there’s a huge possibility that my GV will be expired by the time the application reaches stage 3.
So my residence card expires in Feb 2025 and my advisor says you have to renew IN PERSON. Is this true? I am finding all these threads about online renewal very confusing when he categorically says it does not exist…
My first card was valid from July, 2022 to July 2024. I spent the good part of the last one year worrying about renewal, however, automatic renewals opened up just days before my card was due to expire. My suggestion is not to worry. I think if by next year AIMA cannot get its act together (which it wont), automatic renewals should continue.
This will be my third renewal in May 2025, and I am really worried as hoping to apply for naturalization end of this year. I don’t want an expired GV when I reach stage 3. I really hope they open online renewals.
Reading all the discussion here, I think your advisor is wrong. I think they’ll stick with online renewals as it will help with the backlog.
Hi there fellow GV renewers!
I was wondering if anyone has managed to get a renewal appointment in 2025? Or is there still no movement on this from AIMA?
Yes this is what AIMA said recently.
But always keep up to date with newer procedures
