It’s a Mistake - Men at Work ![]()
Crikey. Don’t go listening to this playlist without someone to check in on you once in a while ![]()
They should make this playlist the background music for all the Portugal Golden Visa webinars that the frontline ponzi scheme advertisers are going to host over the next few months.
For the official government view on GV applicants (and evidence that GV applicants have been systematically pushed to the back of the line) I offer you the Minister in the Presidency directly responsible for AIMA:
“Next year we will resolve the pending issues and those, for reasons of social equity, we left for the end, which are the ones that pay more: the golden visas,” said António Leitão Amaro in parliament, during the debate on the Government’s proposal for the State Budget for 2026 (OE2026), justifying the 85 million euros of AIMA revenues projected in 2026. The minister maintained that “on the scale of moral values” the Government decided to “first serve those poorest” and “most vulnerable”, who were immigrants with an expression of interest, then to resolve the issues of citizens of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP) and “thirdly those who were unable to visit their family, who had expired cards”.
“We take care of all of these first and we leave the richest for the end of the line,” he stressed, saying that "next year a large part of the residence permits for investment activity (golden visas) “will be resolved and will generate this amount in fees”.

— Portugal, long admired for its sunlight, culture, and sea, is now drawing attention for something less visible but far more strategic: stability.
— Portugal is increasingly seen as a magnet for talent and innovation.
— While many European economies oscillate between boom and crisis, Portugal projects a rare sense of calm.

A Russian guy living in Lisbon did a “1 year later” video a few months ago, and had a better description:
Portugal: A wanna-be Balkan country
I’ve just received my biometrics appointment for mid-Jan, which combined with payment on the days means I should have my first residency card in between 0.5-4 months … which as a 2022 applicate is really exciting.
I’m not too concerned about the 10 years for citizenship, I get 99% of what I need with residency and given at some point I will be spending time in the EU, I can apply for EU LTR card after 5 years even if citizenship takes 10.
Am I annoyed about the extra ~3 years, yes sure, but equally my exchange traded ETF investment in that 3 years has grown more than +50% which in someways softens the waiting substantially.
I know it won’t be a popular view around here but I’m generally happy to have the progress and excited to have (finally) an appointment for biometrics !
Remain positive team, even with residency (and not citizenship) this program is really worth it and there is nothing out there anymore that is comparable.
Is this the Portuguese version of The Onion?
Wait what makes you think you get your residency card soon? How is it related to the bio appointment?
