I’m writing from a place of deep patience — and growing frustration. I wanted to share my Golden Visa timeline and ask if anyone else is in a similar legal limbo, especially regarding cases stuck at the court level without biometrics.
Here’s my timeline:
• Initial GV application: 3 October 2023 (real estate investment – €350K) my husband and my daughter (20 back then and still a student) are my dependents.
• Full resubmission (new platform): 7 April 2025
• Judicial subpoena (intimação): Filed in 2024, with legal representation
• Court status: File has been in “conclusão” since 4 October 2024 — no ruling yet
• Last update (August 2025): Lawyer submitted another request for the judge to admit the appeal
• Biometrics appointment: Not received
• AIMA status: Unknown – no confirmation that my file is considered active in the automatic biometric queue
Despite doing everything by the book — from eligibility to taxes to legal costs — I now find myself stuck between a non-responsive court and a silent immigration system.
My dream was simple: to enjoy Portugal during my active years and have EU mobility as I enter retirement. I am 59 now.
This delay is not just bureaucratic. It’s personal. I feel like “ waiting for Godot”
I would really like to hear from others who are:
• Still waiting for biometrics after resubmitting in 2025
• Have filed subpoenas (intimações) but seen no court movement
• Or who did receive movement via legal action — I’d love to know how long it took, and whether AIMA actually responded
Also:
Have any of you received written confirmation from AIMA that your file is “active and complete”? Does such confirmation help move things forward?
I’m not here to complain — I’m looking for honest insight, solidarity, and practical information from others who are navigating this with patience and perseverance.
The more cases that have filed subpoenas but no court movement/AIMA response yet I heard, the more luckily I feel for no prosecution.
I do know there are some applicants going to the next step when they filed a lawsuit. But I think it’s more likely to have no response when more and more peolple do this because it’s overwhelming for the authority, just as handling the GV applications by the SEF/AIMA.
This situation won’t change unless they have core problems solved. Otherwise this project is totally a money making beast.
I have no more money for the lawsuit but it’s a scam for those who kept investing in this project.
I still don’t think the applicants should bear the lawsuit fees if it’s not their fault. But I haven’t read one case asking AIMA for the fees.
