Moving to Portugal while Golden Visa Is Still Being Processed

We are currently in the Golden Visa process. Like many on this forum, we are awaiting biometrics and are considering a lawsuit. Our lawyer mentioned that many Golden Visa applicants who are still awaiting the full processing of their applications have actually moved to Portugal already. For example, they may have had their biometrics appointment and are awaiting residency cards. It appears that there are likely some limitations to this approach (e.g., lack of access to public schools for kids, etc.). You would also be overstaying in the EU, and you are “stuck” in Portugal after 90 days (i.e., you can’t leave the country or you might not be able to get back in). Just curious if anyone has taken the “I’m just gonna move there” approach? How has that worked?

Hi - there’s already 2 good discussion threads on this very topic, so closing this one. Please add any further questions to the existing threads.

w.r.t. lawsuits, their value is debatable now given the massive backlog at the Courts:
