My wife and I currently have a SNS + NISS, and we have tried to apply for an EHIC online through the portal, but it’s not allowing me to do so. We don’t live in Europe now, so we needed an recommendation for an attorney who can go on our behalf to the relevant government bureau to help us submit application for EHIC. Any good recommendations for an attorney. Thanks!
Anyone with a POA can get this one done for you. EHIC is valid for 3 years only and unavailable to use in EEA and Switzerland but rest of EU is fine.
I wanted to request a Portuguese lawyer to do this I have heard stories where the issuing authority throws us barriers to get it done based on made up legal stipulations or incorrect information.
So definitely will need POA, but need an attorney to do the legwork and potential to push back if necessary. Recommendations appreciated.

If they already have a NISS it may still work, but I don’t know for sure. It’s more the qualifying for a NISS part that’s challenging.
Although it seems that due to the renewal form requiring a NISS for a few months they did issue the numbers to people who needed one to renew. Now that that bug is fixed I’m not sure if you could still apply for NISS based on needing it for the renewal.
