In the previous SEF/AIMA process which I went through, the initial ARI application need to be submitted with valid documents at time of submission (e.g. within 3 months of criminal record issuance). I waited 1 year+ to attend the biometric appointment and a refreshed full set of valid documents needs to be presentted at the appointment. Upon completion of the appointment, a confirmation letter (Recibo comprovativo de pedido de Artº 90/A - Atividade de Investimento - Concessão) will be issued and will state if there is any missing document. The missing documents can be submitted within 20 days after the appointment, which can be extended at request. In my case, the social security declaration was missing at the appointment and my lawyer submitted 2 week after.
In the era of “new AIMA process”, refreshed documents seems still needed, perhaps before biometric appointment scheduling.
