We’re 6 months into the process and still cannot get a PT bank account opened, so considering investing directly (meaning the funds do not go through a Portuguese bank) with Optimize. Our lawyer expressed skepticism that this would meet AIMA’s criteria for documentation to be submitted with the application.
As far as I can work out from Nomadgate and other sources, the investment-related documentation required for the initial GV application is:
Statement from the credit institution attesting to the actual transfer of an amount equal to or greater than the legal requirement
Certification from the bank attesting the ownership of the participation units, issued within than 45 days
Declaration from the fund management entity attesting the golden visa eligibility and viability of the capitalization plan
So my questions are:
Are the documents above correct? Anything missing?
Normally # 1 and 2 would come from the bank, but does anyone using a direct investment / non-bank method have experience getting those documents from Optimize?
Hi – our lawyer was concerned that not opening a traditional bank account would not meet the GV legal requirements and that Optimize would not be able to issue the documentation (ARI Declaration, etc) needed for the application (though she wasn’t able to give us a list of all the documents required, which is why I was asking). I was hoping someone here could supply the full list of docs so I could go back to Optimize to confirm. Thanks!
Thanks! When we had a call with Optimize (before our lawyer raised concerns), they didn’t mention Millenium BCP, only that making the investment could be done through an existing bank account or did not require one. Given that our lawyer is pretty useless and in 6 months has not been able to facilitate a bank account, circumventing her seemed too good to be true.
