Yes, normal ID works as a replacement of the proof of tax ID
Question about in-person payment at Biometrics:
- Can credit cards be used (not just debit cards, but credit cards)? Can it be US international card, unlinked to Portuguese account? IAS lawyers say yes, but I want to doublecheck.
- if at the appointment the credit card or debit card fails (due to fraud alert etc, which can happen even if you have already alerted the bank, or let’s say someone lost their card right before biometrics during travel), is the application process suddenly considered cancelled due to in person non-payment? Is there a way to send the payment in next 5-7-10 days online to keep process alive,m
How does this work in practice when you have a 2 year visa? For example you do 7 days in year 1, then plan to do 14 days in year 3. However, as the renewal is at the end of your 2 year visa, you’ve only done 7 days in year 1 and nothing in year 2. Any issues with this approach?
Well made argument. There is a reason why AIMA is held in such high regard. So, u end doing 7 days each year for 1st 2 years I believe.
Make alternate arrangement by transferring funds to your lawyer. They can make payment on your behalf.
Don’t PT debit cards have daily transaction limits? I would imagine it would be hard to convince a bank to lift the limit to cover a family of DUCs?
I have not encountered the daily transaction limits as the debit cards are based on your available account balance. It can cover the expenses that are within your account balance.
@Korion I would advise reaching out to your bank account manager (if you have one). I was preparing for this same eventuality this Monday in case I was asked to pay for our processing fee at AIMA. My account manager at Millennium told me that the payment would go through. Most debit cards have daily cash withdrawal limits, but this is a transaction where you are present at the terminal (verifying your presence with your ATM PIN). You should be fine with a “large” transaction such as this. I was also carrying a Wise card as a backup (and having checked with Wise before travelling, they also said no “flag” was required on the card to make a payment of that amount from the card.
Others on the forum have suggested transferring the funds to your lawyer who can make the payment on your behalf if need be.
I think in practice you must just do 7 days every year or they may deny renewal.
Even if you do 7 days 1st year and 14 days 2nd year, I don’t think they will count any of that towards your 2nd card.
At best, if your 2nd card is 3 years validity, you can do 14 days combined in the last two years of that card since it lines up with the two-year period originally anticipated in the regulations.
Pretty sure you are correct. You only earn stay “credits” during the inclusive validity dates of your current card, per my lawyer.
I have done my Biometrics in Jan 2023 at Lisbon(applied Nov2021). My family applied in July 2022 and they have not been pre-approved yet.
My status has not changed in the system and my lawyer says he cannot upload the documents till the status changes. Is there anyone else in a similar situation?
something similar confirmed by my advocate , now wait start from here again…
I like this advice, have any body start asking this type of letter ?
Could we pay with a foreign issued Master or Visa Credit/Debit cards anyway? It would be very difficult to communicate with a Portuguese bank.
What will happen to those who have already done their biometrics? Are we going to keep waiting?
