If documents were refreshed early in 2025, including criminal background check, do they need to be refreshed again?
Probably your FBI background check and marriage certificate
No appointment for me still. Sole/primary applicant, original submission June 2022, refreshed documents May 2025. Even with all thatâs going on with the citizenship law, I feel grumpy about being left out by AIMA lol
Iâm trying to see a pattern on how biometric appointment dates are being set.
Two theories are:
- Those citizens of countries without free travel to Portugal without a visa are getting later appointments to provide time to apply for a visa.
- Applicants with dependents are being processed first as (my guess) the primary applicant needs to first be approved before dependents get a biometric. Because of the 2 step process family primary investors are getting bio appointments first so they can wrap up the backlog sooner.
I welcome any data to support or challenge the hypothesis or your own theory.
Same here. Application sep 2022. Refeshed documents march 2025. No biometrics yet.
The tracking timeline is here:
Anyone else notice that all the appointments in the drop are for Lisbon or Cascais? No other offices seem to be handling the GV processing.
I live in Cascais and have an 8am appointment in Porto sometime in January. Post 30 June renewal, so may be off point. But also
Porto.
@Lala Yes, renewals are off topic to my point. The massive biometrics drop (those dozens of appointments set after the law passed) appear confined to Lisbon and Cascais.
Application Feb 2023
Refreshed document Feb 2025
Biometrics appointment: 23rd March - Cascais
Only Primary Applicant
Still waiting for my appointment, does the status of the application changes on AIMA portal after receiving the appointment?
Ours still shows as ¨in analysis¨. We got the appointment notification on the 30th.
Where did you get it? Did you get AIMA email yourself?
Have an appointment in April despite being a us citizen with dependents and despite applying a year ago.
Whatâs wrong with Porto?
I live in eastern Algarve and my appointment was at 8am in Porto.
I stayed overnight in a hotel.
Itâs inconvenient. Far from home, requires more time off work, travel and accommodation expenses etc. Plus Iâm seeing a lot of reports of people needing to return with additional documents. On the upside, Porto IRN has been sitting on my citizenship application for nearly 3 years, so I might use the opportunity to do an in person query, for what thatâll be worth.
Are there anyone as primary applicant who did not get the appointment even though the documents were resubmitted in 2025. I still didnât hear anything
I havenât heard anything either. Iâm hoping that my lawyers just havenât gotten around to emailing me yet.
2023 March appointment
2026 April Appointment
