As AIMA asked me to upload document again (Application Submitted Feb 2023) so they can schedule the appointment for Biometrics. According to my lawyer the calendar suppose to be open on 15th Jan still no news about appointment.
Did anyone manage to schedule appointment after uploading the documents again ?
AIMA hasn’t said anything about calendar openings - they’ve advised that applicants refresh their documents on the portal, and in the next 6 months, applicants will be invited for their biometrics (with a minimum of 30 and a maximum of 90 day notice).
Does anyone know if the 30-90 day timeframe refers to being notified about the biometric appointment or the actual appointment itself?
It’s unclear whether the 30-90 days only covers the notification or if the biometric appointment itself is scheduled much later. Many people are delaying updating their documents to avoid missing their appointment in case AIMA schedules it as soon as next month. Additionally, clear timelines are essential since many need to plan their travel to Portugal 3-6 months ahead.
Most people’s understanding is that the time frame refers to a period after which the complete updated documents have been uploaded.
Your interpretation of what they said will be as good as anybody’s. What they said was:
No Appointment. Updated documents for Investor submitted Feb. 11, 2025 (original submission June 2022). Lawyer says that documents for spouse/dependents can by submitted later and yet we would still all get appointments together. We shall see.
Wendy, thanks for letting us know about the day you submitted your renewed documents. Some people have reported that the system was locked to new documents around February 5th and 7th. Based on your timing, it appears that that was a technical glitch rather than something more permanent (which would be concerning).
The issue with AIMA is that they won’t upload my family’s documents until they’ve reviewed the main applicant’s. I’ve already apostilled all my and my family members documents, and they’re only valid for 90 days. It’s been a whole month and still no word about my appointment! By the time I get to upload my family’s documents, the 90-day validity will expire, and they’ll just ask for new apostilled documents again. This is unbelievable process !!!
Only one confirmed case is there from around mid-feb. One member on this community confirmed about another primary applicant having received biometric appintment for i think early may and I also could verify that independently. That was without a lawsuit, but since then, nothing…
IMI Daily’s articles are usually promotions in thin disguise, but the stats articles are legit. Especially now that AIMA has stopped publishing approval stats that SEF used to publish. Guess who takes 38.3 months to approve a GV?
I look forward to the 2025 stats as of March 31 and June 30. When many applicants’ updated documents have aged more than 90 days. AIMA has no shame or self respect
My attorneys uploaded my updated documents on March 10. “Technical issues” apparently are still preventing uploading documents for family members. I’ll post if and when I hear about biometrics scheduling, but I’m not holding my breath!
I was told the same as @ASG. At least one other person reported that their attorneys submitted family documents as part of the primary applicant’s renewed documents. I have no idea whether AIMA will accept or reject the family documents if done that way.
The issue is now family members Apostille document will be expired and then whole circus of getting all document Apostille will start. It cost me at least ÂŁ500 every time (Police report cost + Marriage Certificate (Married in different county so getting newly issues one very difficult) + Apostille + Postal cost.
I applied on Feb 2022 and it’s been three years no news. Spent so much of money for nothing.
