AIMA Tacit Approval

So the Government knows 100% that AIMA is f’d up, yet they want to remove every available legal avenue we have to challenge its ineptitude

The Portuguese government is counting on the far-right to further close its doors to immigrants.

The third point of the anti-immigration package proposes the elimination of “tacit approval” for residency applications submitted by immigrants when the processing time exceeds the deadlines stipulated by law. There are several legal cases brought by immigrants seeking this benefit.

This is because the Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA) has systematically delayed the processing of residency applications. There are cases where immigrants wait up to four years to obtain the documentation that entitles them to live legally in Portugal.
