AIMA's new GV process

My advocate applied on 9th Jan , no news for appointment until now

Mine updated by 12th Feb, no news for appointment yet.

When you say you have submitted documents onto the portal does this mean that you first received the email from AIMA asking you for specific documents or are you submitting what you think is needed? Because we have not received any emails from AIMA yet???

TinG - I don’t know why you did not get the email. There are a lot of possible reasons - you should speak with your lawyer. As far as the documents needed, some attorneys are advising a narrower submission (new criminal background check, apostilled passport) while others are advising much broader (evidence of no tax debt, updated family documents (birth and marriage certificates, evidence of dependency, etc.), proof of investment from both holding bank and fund (if you did fund), etc.). Who is correct remains to be seen but there’s no determination that either approach is wrong.

For reference @TinG, my lawyers prepared the following refreshed documents:

  • evidence of no debt to tax authorities
  • updated Power of Attorney document
  • AIMA forms confirming I as the main investor will support my dependents on the application

I was asked to provide:

  • updated criminal record check, with apostille
  • updated birth certificate for all children on the application, with apostille
  • translated tax identification document, with apostille
  • copy of all passport pages, including the page showing the entry stamp into Portugal

I had my biometrics in the first week of January 2025 as a result of a lawsuit win. After my biometrics appointment, my lawyer uploaded all of the above documents to the portal. My status shows ā€˜Transfered’ (post the completion of biometrics). I’m awaiting a notification that my application has been approved.

Submitted in 2022 December, nothing has happened yet…

Did people have to give a copy of ALL THE PAGES of their passport when resubmitting documents, instead of just the information page? My lawyers (IAS) haven’t requested this…

Also, regarding the refreshed documents (especially all the guessing over how to apostille a US Social Security Number), it sounds like you know within a few days if the documents have been accepted, right? But how do you know thats not an automatic thing, and that several months down the line when a human actually gets around to looking at it they won’t be like ā€œwhoops, this apostille wasn’t what we prefer, do this overā€?

Has anyone had their refreshed documents REJECTED, and told they needed to do it differently? That would actually be reassuring, so we know that when they are accepted, they really won’t come after us again about it…

Yes, all pages.

I emailed the them a PDF of all pages of our passports before the biometrics appointment and our lawyers scanned the page showing our entry stamps into PT on the day of the biometrics appointment in their office.

goel.shashank85, was this right before your biometrics appointment, or when you just needed to submit refreshed documents before pre approval?

My lawyer (IAS) basically are saying the same protocol as va.trade23 above

I have not received biometric appointment yet…at the time of biometric in anycase u will be carrying original passport and AIMA staff will look through it. But bith at the time of original submission and now at the time of re-submission, all pages need to be scanned and uoloaded though it need not be a certified copy.

Has anyone run into the issue of paying the DUC but was told incorrect reference? How is this step fixed usually?

Has everyone already received the letter/email from Aima to refresh their documents or are you doing it even without receiving the letter.?? We have not received any notification yet and don’t know if we should go ahead and prepare fresh documents for me and the family or not.??

Any suggestions

p.s. we do not have biometrics yet, only paid the duc’s for original acceptance and analysis or original documents.

I guess first question would be… did the status of your application on the ARI portal change from ā€˜being analysed’ (Ā«em anĆ”liseĀ») to ā€˜awaiting submission’ (Ā«aguarda envioĀ») - which allows for the updating of documents in the application.

the status says awaiting submission but I do not know which ones need to be resubmitted??

Check out previous posts in this thread, for example:

Also in this thread above is some debate on what needs to be apostilled:

And most importantly, you only get one chance to click ā€˜resubmit’ - so be sure you’ve uploaded everything you need before hitting that big button:

We received the letter but portal STILL doesn’t open for submission. Lawyers have apparently written to AIMA to no avail. Documents are ageing out next month. Its very frustrating
