Yes that’s the ultimate goal. We do want to show our commitment to Portugal and our intentions in order to get a tourist visa. Given our recent experience with the visa being revoked, we don’t want our visa to be rejected and our SEF application could serve as a proof of our intentions to go to Portugal. Hopefully it helps to get a multi-entry tourist visa for 12 months or so without booking a hotel for 100+ days.
Since we’ve been to Europe many times in the past,I don’t think there is a risk of someone assuming that we’d overstay our welcome, the risk is that they’d think we are “visa shopping” and these countries want to ensure thetourists spend their money with them

Apparently it’s called "visa shopping"and European countries fight for the dollars spent
