that’s what I’ve heard too. My route is Fund route. My fee is 3k. Not sure why. But nothing I could do. I’ve already paid the fee and now waiting for the card. Let’s see how many years the new card is going to have.

I dont think AIMA has any chance of processing all renewals by June 2025, as they can’t even process new applications since 3 years ago. Its quite possible that auto renewals will return in January once AIMA figures this out.

My lawyers confirmed that currently automatic renewals are suspended. They also think AIMA could reverse that decision later - but nothing is certain!

3k was asked to pay on site of Aima. Duc was issued. I must pay. And I did!!!

I just came back from physical appointment for renewal today…Can I ask 2 extra questions : How did you receive renewal approval after you attended the appointment ? Did the lawyer inform you or can you see it on sef.com where the scheduled appointment appears ?

- i knew about the approval (of my renewal) thru my lawyer. DUC was sent to my lawyer, then lawyer forwarded to me to pay.
- appointment schedule was seen in sef.com
But you paid when the approval decision was already made, not when you were attending the appointment? I was asked to pay on site today, together with biometrics. I still have no idea how to find out about the approval until I see the card.
I went alone, without a lawyer.
I paid after approval was sent. DUC was sent after the approval. And it took 1-2 days for DUC fully activated. I tried tonpay immediately when receiving DUC but it kepts saying wrong reference number. After 2 days, it went thru smoothly.

Ah ok. Your payment process seems exactly the same as online renewal. Register first and 48 h laters, DUC issued.
I was asked to pay 177 euros, without DUC shown to me. AIMA officer just wrote this number down on a paper. This fee proves ARI (real estate route at least) is converted into AR Imigrante Empreendedor for real.
Additionally they asked me to present the certificate that I have no debts to Portuguese social security (NISS) or I do not have NISS at all, of which I was caught off guard. They went on process my renewal request nonetheless and asked me to send such proof via mail once I’ve obtained it. Out of panic, I’ve made an appointment with NISS for tmr. Taken that you are already approved, I’m wondering if you presented NISS document too…?

My investment is Fund. Maybe it is the reason.
My DUC was about 3k for renew. I think that my card is not being converted to AR Empreendedor.
I was not asked anything about NISS. However, I have my NISS and I wanted to have my NISS and SNS showing at the back of the card. However I forgot to request that at the appointment. According to my lawyer, it is unlikely my NISS and SNS will be on the card. I need to remember to do it in the next renewal.

Lawyer’s service fee for renew was included in the begining of the process. I paid 5k USD in 2020 for lawyer’service. This 5k covers all assistance and support for 1st card + 2 renewals. Not sure how much they charge now.
I also acquired an NISS and didn’t get it on my new card, but I did auto online renewal.
I believe once you get citizenship you are assigned all those numbers and they are included on your citizen card.
Don’t know why they don’t just do the same for residents. You’re entitled to all the numbers anyway.
Yah it appears our experiences of physical appointment for GV renewal are completely different from each other.
Since you’ve got approval, yours shall arrive soon just as online renewals(hopefully I dont jinx it).
I, on the other hand, although have immediately provided the missing NISS, have no idea how it will go down.

Thanks for kind words. I hope card is going to arrive soon. However, i am realistic. It could take 5 months to arrive. Recently, in facebook forum, some people reported that they did renewal online in May and cards arrived in October. Therefore anything could happen in this country as the authority does not respect their own timeline.
