Keep renewing the Golden Visa indefinitely without transitioning to permanent residency yet?

I have a question about renewing the Golden Visa continuously beyond the 5 year. I would like to have a visa that allows me to travel to Europe at any time for more than 180 days and, in the future (though I’m unsure when), stay there permanently. However, the 5-year Golden Visa doesn’t seem to meet this long-term goal.

For now, I don’t plan to become a permanent resident of EU since I will be living in the USA. Is there a way to keep renewing the Golden Visa indefinitely without transitioning to permanent residency yet? Any advice would be appreciated!

At present there is nothing to prevent renewal of GV indefinitely, and I’m not aware of any plans to prevent renewals ( i’ll probably do the same).
In the past changes to the programme (ie increase in investment minimums) have effectively allowed existing to holders to renew and I expect ( hope) this will continue.
