NISS is the number you get when you register with the Social Security Department (not equivalent to US social security), which as a resident you need to do. The only reason I can imagine needing to give it out is if youāre financially distressed and applying for a government subsidy or handout. And Edpro does ask for this number, whether or not, as you say, it isnāt required. Confusing, since they are not a welfare organization.
Iāve also received similar information from them, as you quoted above. But it would be nice to hear from someone other than Edpro itself about the acceptability of their certificates.
Test is very easy
They will send you one day before you have time to do it. Hone work the books ( learning materials) has to be done via learning with teacher . Its very nice and easy . Btw i passed CIPLE A2 also . Just understood one week my class started . I did exam on nov 2023 .
Thank yo so much for sharing your experience! I have registered for the February sessions.
Do we need to be physically in Portugal? Also, overall, how many hours a day do you spend with the course? Is it a full 4-hour session + homework/study? It seems really intense and exhausting! Iām worried whether I will have enough time for my work and other stuff.
By the way, congratulations on passing CIPLE!! So exciting!!
This was my understanding also. This is why people who took it said that it wasnāt extremely difficult. According to them, you can get a 100% in one area and a 10% in another area and still pass.
I took the exam in Nov 2023 and passed with ClassificaĆ§Ć£o Bom. It appears the listening exam became more difficult starting from Nov 2023: the āeasierā part becomes: to choose the correct REPLY from a list of 10 to each of the situational questions. It was a nightmare for me as I only prepared to identify location/profession of the situations, per past exams.
A TPN article features a potentially noteworthy quote from an AIMA official about language learning:
In terms of integration, āwe also want, during this quarter, to launch a new strategy for promoting Portuguese language learningā, added the president of AIMA
I wonder whether this mean they will improve access to PLA courses. For all of the messages in this thread, Iām no closer to understanding how to secure enrollment in a PLA class without paying a fixer. There arenāt many course listings online, and the few that are listed seem to be nothing more than the computerās hallucinations.
Met my lawyer today and we touched on language requirement for NATIONALITY. She insisted that the applicant must present A2 certificate issued by CAPLE.
I would strongly recommend that people who have no exposure to Romance languages like Spanish, and not used to hearing Portuguese regularly - warm up for a month with Memrise (European Portuguese 1 and 2) or other online course before joining a live class. The usual style is for the teacher to be speaking Portuguese most of the time, and some preparation will be a big help in the first few classes.
I thought Pimsleur was great, but because there isnāt a Portuguese 3 program, I wasnāt sure where to go next. I really liked the The Journey/Portuguese with Carla, but it felt like it got pretty advanced rather quickly. Has anyone found a more natural next step up from Pimsleur?
