I was exploring Portuguese GV options with a specific firm and, foolishly paid them fees upfront. Then we had a few financial set backs and we were unable to complete the application process. I have asked for at least a portion of the 10k plus fees to be refunded but they refused. I admit I did sign an agreement that indicated that the fees were not refundable but I thought that would only be after we truly started the process.
Anyway, sorry for the sob story, but does anyone have a recommendation for an European law firm that may be willing to take my case? Thanks, Jeff
How long after signing did you pull out? Generally you have a 14 day cooling off period on all remote transactions in the EU
You may have other protections against unfair contracts (this sounds like one if they expended no work yet kept the fee - that’s a penalty not recovery of cost/ effort ).
The only law firm I can recommend has a lot of immigration business and unlikely to assist a claim against another immigration firm.
Thank you for the information. It was longer than 14 days because it was over the holidays last December. But you are correct, they spent little time or effort on this before I notified them I was pulling out.
