I got my D7 temporary visa from the San Francisco consulate in June 2025, but it didn’t have a AIMA appointment date. I went to Portugal in Sept. 2025 but returned to the States soon after -for personal urgent matter - soon after. While I was in Portugal, every timne I contacted AIMA for an appointment, I was told I had to call or email them. I did that many times with no luck. On my return to the States,I contacted them SEVERAL times, with no response. My D7 visa expired in Jan, 2025. Finally, earlier this year I sued AIMA and have finally got an appointment in Feb. 2026. What kind of visa should I be traveling on? If my stopover is in Zurich, before continuing on to Porto, will that be a problem? Should I anticipate all kinds of problems from AIMA at my interview?
Can’t you just travel on your US passport on the general 90 day tourist visa?
