For the DUC, I used my own PT online banking to pay to the state of Portugal.
During payment, I input the reference number (of course).
However, it also asked me to input the Taxpayer Number (NIF), where I input my own NIF.
I think this should be the case, right?
Has anyone encountered anything similar?
Yes, I just did this and the payment went through fine. Reference number, your Portuguese NIF, amount, and I attached the DUC. It took 2 days for the AIMI portal to register the payment.
I used Bison Bank, and it was a required field. I am guessing if your bank doesnât have that field, then itâs probably fine. If youâre not sure, reach out to your lawyer or the bank to confirm.
Thanks for sharing. For Novo Banco, only Taxpayer Number (NIF), DUC reference number and Amount is needed. So I guess it should be fine. Iâll double check with the lawyer to see if the portal has indicated that the amount is received.
Just FYI: when you pay to the state (pagamento ao estado), the reference number of DUC will uniquely identify you with the payment to be made. Your NIF will be required to link you to the payment reference. Thatâs it! If there is something that works very well in Portugal, this would be it!
I too use Novobanco for payment for my immigration (and other) DUC.
Hi, also Novo Banco here. I paid DUC 9 days ago with only NIF, reference and amount combination. The invoice still shows âissuedâ, not âsettledâ. Can something be going wrong?
I also have Novobanco, and when I was paying the DUC, I was required to enter the reference number of the DUC. That was the only way the payment was accepted through the âPayment to the Stateâ tab, which you must have used to settle the DUC. If you did not use their reference, there is no way for the Finanças to match your DUC with your payment.
I input the reference and the payment was through. But 10 days after, they still didnât acknowledge receiving the payment. How long did it take in your case?
I canât recall exactly, but it was about 5 days or so in Jan 2025. I think they had software glitches since then, and so this info might be outdated.
Meanwhile, please ensure you keep the receipt from the bank as the proof of payment.
Software glitches seem to be fixed. 1 day after the DUC was issued, I made an online DUC payment with my bank (Atlantico). Made the payment yesterday (Friday). For payments to the state, sometimes translated to âtaxâ, only had to enter the DUC reference number and the amount. Today, the entry under billing documents on the AIMA site changed from issued to paid: âPagoâ and there is a link to the payment receipt from AIMA.
