Portugal golden visa investment options

I think the funds was established last October? Have they had preliminary approvals yet?

The response was that they haven’t heard that anyone has not had prelim approvals. Its like a double negative :blush:

That would make me cautious. Eligibility turns on the meaning of the definition:

vii) Transferência de capitais no montante igual ou superior a 500 000 (euro), destinados à aquisição de partes de organismos de investimento coletivo não imobiliários, que sejam constituídos ao abrigo da legislação portuguesa, cuja maturidade, no momento do investimento, seja de, pelo menos, cinco anos e, pelo menos, 60 /prct. do valor dos investimentos seja concretizado em sociedades comerciais sediadas em território nacional;

Does this mean 60% of the fund’s capital must be invested in shares of Portuguese companies, or are bond investments OK. I think at the least I’d want to see a legal opinion issued by a respected lawyer, or at least some guidance from AIMA that they regarded bonds as acceptable.

Fair point – I have again asked for further details

I have received from them this morning a written opinion from Legal Square, supposedly the largest legal firm in the Golden Visa business in Portugal (their claim, not mine). Also, worth noting that 3CC did not pay for this legal opinion. It confirms that Portugal Golden Income Fund can be legally qualified as an “investment activity” for the purposes of the Golden Visa application

Based on my personal experience with Portugal and Portuguese institutions, I strongly recommend sticking to open-end funds, especially if your primary goal is securing a Golden Visa rather than maximizing investment returns.

The country does not operate with the same Anglo-Saxon standards of discipline, work ethic, or transparency—especially in financial matters. Many uncertainties are not addressed promptly or clearly, and the level of disclosure often falls short of what one might expect from more developed markets like the S&P 500 or from institutions like Vanguard.

Please, be cautious. Prioritize guaranteeing your principal before making any moves. Let the Golden Visa be your main scope; returns should be secondary and approached conservatively.( Canadian American invested oxy portuguise liquid opportunities via bison bank may 2025 and my famly made 2022 investment through real estate separately)

New to the community here but have learned a ton from everyone!

About to invest with Optimize or a similar open-ended fund and wonder if anyone has been successful in negotiating down the subscription fee as mentioned here?

Appreciate any guidance, and will of course share my experience back with the board.
