Hello
We are comtemplating applying for GV using investment route. We are 5 members in family - and UAE agents for GV are quoting very high prices for the process.
For people who have applied - does it make sense to go to Portugal and apply with local agencies over there? Does this shave off a few k Euro + few weeks? I will be searcing for local recommendation of lawyers/agencies for this process in this forum.
We like PT and this will be our holiday break every year.
Generally you do not need to hire anyone in your home country for this process.
I made this mistake myself initially, so you can learn from it and donโt repeat
Hire PT-based lawyers directly, there is plenty of recommended firms you can find on this forum.
I too am in your position in the process and I completely agree with @tommigun that you should go for PT lawyers only. My queries have also shown that UAE-based agents are not only substantially more expensive but will also need to charge you a further 5% VAT on their fees. Itโs very likely that they too will eventually use the services of PT lawyers only.
โdoes it make sense to go to Portugal and apply with local agencies over thereโ - I am not sure you need to go there at all. You can coordinate over video calls and get the process going. I am told that one needs to personally go to PT only for the biometrics. Iโll be happy to be corrected if my understanding is incorrect.
For utmost clarity - the recommendation is to work with lawyers/law firms directly. No need for an additional โagencyโ even in PT.
Thank you - I just needed this advice.(I knew it all along - but needed that reconfirmation)
I am in AMS next week - so can take a short flight to PT and meet them in person.
