Portuguese Golden Visa, Implications for Citizenship and Impact of Proposed Changes to the Law

Good day all
We have just commenced the process, at the stage of funding our account and the various threads on here is giving cause for concern and a need to take a step back to get a better/fuller picture before jumping in. The explanations from our lawyers seems a tad too enthusiastic and I get the feeling that they might be glossing over some facts.

We would thus most appreciate feedback on the experience of those who are already in the process. Concerns raised which I am most interested in: administrative processing timeline delays, possibility of a retroactive action on changes to the law, progression from 5yrs to 10yrs towards citizenship (as the ARI does not require residence, is that 10yrs + the 5yrs or inclusive of the 5yrs), would the investment funds then need to remain invested for the 10yrs, when does the clock start ticking - on submission of ARI application or on approval of the permit.

I suppose the question I and my partner are mulling over is, being a regular working couple, is the financial investment worth it? Hopefully, the experience you all would share would aid us in making that decision.
Thanks
