Just wanted to check with someone who has already applied for the GV visa, I submitted mine on 22 May but my portal is still showing awaiting payment confirmation and my lawyer says that my family visas cannot be applied until the status changes. Is this correct? Also, is there anything we can do to expedite so the family visas can be submitted as well and their 5 year duration starts as well? Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
I am in the same situation with a May 13 date on the primary application and my attorney and many other firms have said this affecting many applicants. There is much to be done to move things along. Paying the fee again doesn’t solve the problem.
My understanding is that AIMA is focusing on system changes so that they can be faster the second half of this year in processing applications.
My attorney did reach out to their contacts at AIMA with the list of their clients that are affected and making the case that the five year starts at each of the applicants respective dates. They don’t expect movement just want to have a trail of documentation.
I am just trying to roll with it but it is hard since the dependent applicants still need to be completed and the legislative changes to the citizenship laws being discussed.
Same boat. My lawyer hand delivered family reunification applications a few weeks ago with a letter documenting they could not be submitted online. I have no idea if it will help.
No change. My attorney has emailed the Director of AIMA this week in addition to the normal channels again. I am not willing to pay again as it might not work and then I will have to try to get a refund. My attorney tells me the original date will count for starting the clock so I am fine there, but I want my wife’s application to be turned in ASAP.
No change, emailed lawyer about paying again, but they are on vacation. I saw someone mentioned their application changed status after 6 weeks or so. Maybe mine is due soon.
It took three payment attempts for the main applicant to move to “Under Analysis.” Since each DUC is only valid for seven days, we had to cancel the expired DUC and request a new one each time. After repeating this process three times, the application finally progressed—about 24 hours after the last payment was submitted.
We’re now paying for the dependent applications and hoping to avoid the same cycle we experienced with the main applicant. That said, several individuals have had success by simply resubmitting the payment and later requesting a refund from AIMA.
Let me know if I can answer any additional questions.
