6k Euro payment made at biometrics appointment in respect of primary applicant (me)
Nothing since (and my lawyer just ignores my emails).

That’s reassuring that those people from January they have started getting their cards. If it goes like this then my turn to receive card will/ should come in November . I have done biometrics in april 14th 2026
wow very short timeline - we applied November 2021, property investment since then - my biometric Jan 26 no card yet - wife on family reunification and biometric appt. 28/10/2026
I’m the main GV investor and I’m a US citizen - applied in September 2025. I was notified about my September 2026 biometrics appointment in Lisbon in May 2026. I attended the appointment with a representative from my law firm, EDGE, on September 2nd - their office is walking from AIMA. After waiting for 1-2 hours at AIMA, my biometrics were taken and I was done. My lawyer says it will now take between 3-6 months for AIMA to make their decision. If approved, then the process will start for my two dependents.

For those of us who are part of this 2026 surge of biometrics appointments, I made a thing that gives an overview of how our cohort is faring through the ARI process, based on the nomadgate database. It shows the most recent biometrics appointment dates to receive their cards, and other interesting info. Hope it’s useful to people.

Excellent Information. Thanks for putting this together. I’m curious to find out from the people that have received their First Residency Card, if they presented health insurance documentation at the biometrics. My attorney stated that it is required, so of course I’ve been paying monthly premiums for the coverage, but I also have heard that most people have not purchased any health insurance policies. Definitely a gray area between what attorneys have been advising!

Can I ask if you provided health insurance coverage to AIMA during the biometrics? I’ve heard different requirements and I was advised to get a Portuguese policy that I’m continuing to pay for.
We were told we did not need that. I verified our health insurance includes international coverage, just in case, but we were not asked about health insurance at all at primary’s biometrics.

I was not asked for health insurance. I am also from a country that does not require a visa to enter Portugal

@david23 As a GV applicant who is only planning to fulfill the avg 1week/yr physical presence requirement, my lawyer drafted an affidavit stating that I will not be residing in Portugal, and as such would not be providing health insurance for Portugal. So I believe if you’re not planning to live in PT, and you’re on the Golden Visa, you can bypass the insurance requirement.
There is a dedicated thread on this, but in short - health insurance is not required unless you “live in Portugal” (i.e. unless your NIF address is Portugal). But then if you actually live in Portugal you get your SNS number and submit that to AIMA (so again, you would not need a paid insurance).

Happy to see that someone with a Jan 13 Cascais appointment received their card last week. Seems like it’s taking 2-3 weeks to process one day of appointments.
Ajay, if what you’re saying holds true, it will be more than three years before I get my card. That is of course not including the three years I waited for biometrics.
