Starting a business in portugal

So it looks like after 4 years of golden visa application and holding residency card for couple of years now we are going to move to lisbon and i will have a clean start in my career. I have always been an entrepreneur, started businesses sold them or just make good monthly income. I am hoping to learn a bit about starting business in Portugal and avoid some common mistakes. Here are few things i am considering

  1. ATM company in Lisbon and eventually expand europe wide - I have experience running a white label ATM business in US and canada and expanded a company from buying 1 used ATM to over 200 ATMs at the peak. I know ins and outs of this business and what it takes, language might be a challenge to start with but could hire someone for business development.

  2. Campervan rental - This is more of a passion project that i always wanted to do back in north america but portugal feels like a good place because of this whole camping culture and people in generally exploring europe in Van. The business model relies on buying used Vans and converting them into a RV style campervan perfect for camping that users would rent closer to larger airport, start with 2-3 vans in lisbon and eventually expand to porto and faro and europe wide in the future.

  3. Crypto exchange/OTC desk - i have experience with this, i ran and sold an OTC desk in north america few years ago and could get this going. Obviously the appeal here is, this can expand worldwide.

Money isn’t the problem and i don’t need to start somethign right away to start making money, we have enough to never work again but i am not going to not do anything for rest of my life.

I’d go Campervan, but would check the competitive environment first. You should look at Outdoorsy in the US, which is more of a marketplace for renting vans & trailers. My experience with ATMs in Portugal makes them seem more complex there and there’s probably regulations to deal with. Let me know if you decide to do the van thing.
