Changing Portugal NIF address to abroad (non-EU)

Hello everyone.

I was a temporary student in Portugal and have a nif. My studies ended and I’m back to my country (non-eu). I want to change my address to my home country to avoid any troubles in the future, however I don’t know if I can do it on portal das finanças. Do I need a tax representative to do this? I enabled the required notifications. Do I have to have a tax rep. forever?

I am completely lost and really appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance!

As a non-citizen I think you should be able to update your address on Portal das Finanças.

Log in, then access this form.

Theoretically the notifications should be sufficient. Are they already active on your account, i.e. listed as ATIVO here? Usually they only apply from the next month or quarter or something like that.

If they aren’t active yet I guess it might not let you change the address without adding a tax representative. However, it doesn’t hurt to try updating the address. If they let you, great. If not, wait until the PdF or ViaCTT notifications are active and try again.

Thank you for starting the thread. I was also trying to learn how not to have facial reps. To register with my NIF as a new user, it asks my tax address. Do you know if my current updated address outside Portugal?

My original address is also outside Portugal so that I always have a fiscal Rep and I pay taxes in Portugal in Portugal income.

Thank you in advance.

thank you very much

You’re welcome! Please report back whether it works for you or not
