Delay of dependent's biometrics appointment (500 days since pre-approval)

I am December / 2021 applicant. My wife is January / 2022 applicant. There are 5 weeks gap between our application dates. Even I sent all documents to our lawyers 3 and half years ago it seems they only did my application on time but my wife is 1 month later.

Me and my wife got pre-approval in November/2023. I called to biometrics in Feb/2024 in Lisbon. Now I am waiting final approval. Even nearly 500 days past from her pre-approval still my wife is not called to biometrics. I checked nomadgateโ€™s preapproval->biometrics timeline and there is nearly no one waited more than 500 days. I also entered my data there and it is 94 days similar to average. There are rare samples more than 400 days but they missed their appointment. I am tired of getting schengen visas to be ready when AIMA call us. We took 4 schengen visas in last 3 years just for biometrics.

Now as you know AIMA is passing a new procedure and all applicants and dependents need to update their criminal records and marriage certificates. If they will do not update on time their application will be cancelled. Our lawyers (CCA) says that they cannot update her documents because I already did my biometrics. My last schengen visa is ending at the end of May. I do not want to take one more Schengen because I lost my all hope and energy and getting a Schengen is really hard thesedays, there are no slots etc.

What should I do? How can I get an appointment for my wife before our Schengen visa ends? What do you think caused this huge delay? I think I will change my attorney (CCA) because I am really upset they could not manage the situation, delayed entering my wifeโ€™s application etc. I do not want to open lawsuit with using them. If I change my lawyer in this step will it create problems?

Thank you all for replies.

Maybe others will give you advice based on later experience.
But I expect your wifeโ€™s file is lost in the system.
I waited 2 years from Dec 2021 to end-2023 before I submited my lawsuit for pre-approval. I could have done it earlier.
I suggest your wife does the same (lawsuit), and change lawyers if your current Lawers are reluctant to take action.
On a positive note, once my lawsuit was accepted I went straight through Biometrics to approval quickly, as if AIMA was catching up. So there can be a good outcome.
Good luck.

Thank you for answer Peter.

Were you main applicant or dependent?

If you were main applicant what was situation in your dependents? Did SEF/AIMA called them in normal time period or your all family waited 2 years?

I was a sole applicant, no dependents
