Georgia is enticing adventurous digital nomads with new visa policy

To take advantage of it, all you have to do is fill out an application form (requiring personal information, a certificate of employment and a letter of consent to undergo a 14-day quarantine) and obtain a ‘preliminary confirmation’. You’ll then have to quarantine for a fortnight at your own expense and provide proof of travel insurance that lasts at least six months.

Georgia is yet to launch the online platform for the visa, which applies to anyone who wants to stay for longer than six months.

I’ve worked from both Tbilisi and Batumi. Both areas have good wifi and easy to find late night stores for food, energy drinks, etc. to handle the 3am ph meeting aka different time zones. Very cost effective and Cheap flights from Europe on Wizz Air.

Is it sustainable to live there?

They are changing visa for DN currently. Before, 1yr was possible. If your working / meeting California time, some grocery stores were open for late night energy drink, etc. Its a small country with allot of diversity in climates. Mountains to Black Sea. Very beautiful and stable wifi.

Is it worth it if your an EU citizen? Or is this designed for Americans.

I’m sad to see that there hasn’t been much engagement with this post. I am wondering if this took off, was successful and is still valid, as I would like to apply for it. Thanks!

DN? What do you mean? Thanks.

Most people think the digital nomad visa is unnecessary for most people to get the benefits of living and setting up a business in Georgia. Mainly it was introduced by the government when they were blocking the citizens of most countries from entry to ge… but now borders are pretty open and the 1 year visa on arrival suits most people.

That makes perfect sense, yes! Is it really that easy to stay there for 1 year uninterrupted? I am looking for a place to stay longer term (traveling every month or two gets tiring after a while), but there are always some requirements I could meet but would rather not. Like the Thai Elite Visa: that’s $15,000 or so for 5 years. That’s $250 a month on average, not terrible, but it’s still $3k a year. Thanks!

check if your country is on the list:

after six months you would become tax resident in Georgia which may or may not be an issue for you.

If yes then you just need to satisfy the covid entry rules ( full vaccination or clear PCR test within 72 hours of entry).
