Has anyone on this forum completed the Portugal Golden Visa process and obtained citizenship?

I assume there are age limits on these courses? PLA course seems to be limited to 16+. I canā€™t imagine any online course suitable for a 4 year old.

Depends on the age of your children I think. I think the age is 16 or 17? If theyā€™re young they definitely donā€™t need to learn it. But theyā€™ll be applying for citizenship on the basis of a parentā€™s anyway, so the requirements are different to those for 5 yearsā€™ residency.

Thanks and best of luck. Did you apply at the same time as your citizenship application or have you or the other parent of your child already obtained citizenship prior to your childā€™s application.

Iā€™m asking because this is an important nuance for the argument of ā€œnaturalization based on parentā€™s citizenshipā€ which doesnā€™t require language ability. But if it is a pre-requisite for the parent to obtain the citizenship before childā€™s application, then it adds another 2-3 years to the process for the child.

Thatā€™s true. Courses are for 16+ only (at least the ones which I came across so far).

Yes for minors the application is based on having a citizen parent.

For children 18+ they cannot apply based on their parentā€™s citizenship, instead they would independently apply for naturalization exactly the same way their parents are applying.
