Hi, has anyone used pax legal before? How was the experience?
I am currently using PaxLegal for my GV. PM me if you what .
Hi, did you end up going with Pax Legal?
No I did not
We have used PAX Legal and are happy with them. We have used Antonio Patricio who has been excellent for management of legal interactions with our property investment, and Barbara Pestana more with the immigration affairs.
I am considering Pax Legal for my GV and would really appreciate any information about your experience with them. I am new to this forum and not sure how to send a PM here. Thank you, Marc Snyder
Hi Marc,
I used PaxLegal for a property purchase for a GV in May 2023. The purchase went “mostly smoothly” although I never was able to get a full accounting of costs. In the US we get a “closing statement”, formerly the HUD1, but I was led to believe that is not available here. PaxLegal did submit our GV applications to SEF in a reasonable time frame, although they did not catch an error in the spelling of my name, they assured me that it will be corrected at the next step of the process with AIMA. I have visited the PaxLegal office in Lisbon and they were very friendly and cooperative and provided copies of documents I needed for other transactions I have pending in Portugal.
I am disappointed with PaxLegal’s “company policy” of not allowing me access to my own AIMA (formerly SEF) portal to track my personal progress through this slow immigration process, and the speed of (and sometimes lack of) communication.
The only GV legal firm I have not heard complaints about is Edge, I believe they are slightly more expensive but according to people I have met that used Edge they were more proactive and kept them appraised of what was needed, when it was needed, and made sure nothing was missed.

To me this would be reason enough not to use them. Maybe I’m more interested in ‘self-serve’ than most, but I see no reason why I should not be able to see my own application status whenever I want.
Marc,
If you are just starting, you might want to file your case with AIMA yourself first through their portal. It is (was, in my case) a very simple process where I just entered some basic information and uploaded few simple documents I had on-hand, by far not a complete set. This triggered SEF (now AIMA) to open my case file on-line and send me the password. Only then I transferred this file to my lawyer. Afterwards we supplied the necessary missing documents to commence the full application process and paid the DUC for processing once SEF had all they needed to proceed.
Now, I have an access to AIMA site in parallel with my lawyer.
Please look at the Wiki instructions on this site on how to do it, or contact me for more info.
I would agree with @PTbound to not proceed with any law firm now who does not provide an access to AIMA site!
