According to my lawyer, yes a screenshot of a digital boarding pass is acceptable
In my case, I am relying on - lisbon border stamping on passports, hotel receipt with NIF and names of familia indicating time spent, scans of daily receipts (at least two per day) since no one can preserve the originals for that long, and exit boarding pass out of Lisbon. Hopefully all this will suffice. This is my first trip after cards for three of my family members. Son just had bio a few days ago so not sure when he will get his card!
Could you please assist how to get exemption for not fulfilling the stay requirements for D2 Visa , and at the same time my PR could be approved also the citizenship application >
I’ve a job in the UAE not a business and i can’t leave . I can yearly visit Portugal but i will be never able to stay too long
Hello! You have to make a written request to AIMA explaining why you were absent from the country so long and provide the professional proof.
A question on the 7/14 day stays - has anyone been entering Portugal through a Schengen country, and thus relying on boarding cards and hotel stays to prove the stay periods? Looking at possibly spending a week in the Canary Islands first later this year, and then flying to Madeira (which would mean no border control stamp for Portugal) for 8 days, and then flying back home (non-Schengen area). Exit stamp would exist in the passport, but entry stamp would be for Tenerife or Gran Canaria (or which island we book for).
What could be the professional proof to be accepted ? and is this will affecting citizenship approval in the future ?
Is your D2 converted from a GV (real estate investment)? If so you still only have the 7 day / year requirement.
For other visas, I don’t know if “I have a job in my home country” is a valid excuse. Otherwise, nobody would apply for GV when D7 is much faster and cheaper!
My D2 is not from realstate investment, it should be from a company creation . But I will not be able to fulfill the stay requirements as I have a Jon in the UAE . So I’m afraid they cancel my visa or even not fulfill the stay requirements will affect on getting either the PR or citizenship even if they gave me an exemption
It doesn’t hurt to request an exemption, maybe they will be very nice and grant it to you. It just seems risky to rely on it. For people who need to live mostly outside Portugal, that is what the GV is for!
I wish I could apply for the GV but the I can’t afford 500,000 $
Hello John,
If you stay in a hotel they can issue a declaration or they will inform AIMA directly that you are in Portugal with your date of arrival. Otherwise, you need to go to AIMA or to a police station within the firs 3 days in Portugal to request a declaration of entry in Portugal.
Is it possible to prove the minimum stay requirement without a boarding pass? I have daily expense receipts (with NIF) and an Airbnb receipt during my stay, but my boarding pass was damaged during boarding. The airline is unwilling to issue an official proof of travel afterwards. Would the Airbnb receipt and expense recipes be sufficient? Or, Is the boarding pass still a must? Thanks!
Already addressed here:
Common sense would dictate that a boarding pass is not mandatory because it’s possible to live full time in Portugal and never leave.
In fairness to @michaelyam (welcome Michael!), in the first post in this group, our lawyer friend Margarida Torres says:
Margarida is saying that AIMA will ask for boarding passes. It doesn’t seem unreasonable to ask what happens if you can’t show them.
That’s fair.
Have you tried to go into ‘Manage My Booking’ (or whatever it’s called for the airline you flew) on their website and mobile app, to see if you can re-print or screenshot a boarding pass from there?
It might not work for a flight in the past, but is worth a try.
I have never tried because my clients usually give me the original boarding passes.
