Is online pla course legit? Like Edpro

Hi anyone, I am new here. I was browsing some language course topics. Some mentioned Edpro. So I searched it on google map. It shows a funeral house… Has anyone acutallly visited the school?
Thanks in advance!

They don’t have much of a physical presence, o understand that just coordinate online classes of other schools

This is incorrect, they are new and they do mostly online courses but they do have a real office and classrooms. I have completed their course and visited their office in Odivelas to collect the certificate and met most of my fellow classmates on that day.

Yes, Edpro is legit. We took an online class last Sept/Oct. 150 hours, 4 hours per day for 2 months. It went too fast for us to retain a whole lot, but meets the criteria for knowing the language for citizenship without having to take the test. Certificate was in hand a couple of weeks after the course was over.

Jim, I am curious if there is homework required or in-class quizzes to test your comprehension. Thank you for sharing your experience.

Very minimal homework. There are in-class fairly easy quizzes throughout the course, and tests after each section (4 or 5). You move on so quickly, your retention can suffer. We remembered enough for the tests but not much past then. You’ll pass if you participate. If your goal is to get a certificate for your citizenship, this is the ticket. If you want to learn portuguese, a slower, longer, in person class might be better.

Very helpful Jim. Thank you.

I think it varies significantly by professor. My wife and I are enrolled in different Edpro classes and the course materials are different. Do to work schedule changes, my wife was unable to remain in her course so I am unable to speak to whether she had homework, but in my course, the professor did not assign any homework (just some voluntary exercises “if you have time”). There have been no quizzes in my course. Aside from either the first or second day when each class member was called upon to briefly introduce themselves in Portuguese, all verbal participation in the class has been voluntary. That said, we have had an actively engaged group of students and most people participate in each class, but some folks are certainly just showing up. Overall, I have been very impressed with the quality of the instruction and our professor, especially for 700 euros. I highly recommend the course as a way to both get a solid grounding in Portuguese and to exempt yourself from the A2 test. That said, you do cover a lot of material quickly, so I fully intend to use the course materials to review the entire course once it has ended. I may then do their B1/B2 course as well if it is similarly priced.
