Even the A2 Ciple test is not that hard, if you think you can handle normal conversations, why not try taking the A2 test directly? Costs less than 100 euros and who knows you may pass it ! eliminating the need for any PLA course altogether
Any one know this PLA at the end has exam or just has to follow the teacher instruct and at the end you will receive the certificate. Just want to know any exam at the end or just 90% attend to classes and follow all the things has to be learned .
Thanks for any advice
This is what the current regulation Portaria n.º 183/2020, de 5 de agosto says, [translated into english]:
Teachers and trainers must apply the methods and techniques that best suit the characteristics of the trainees and the training content, based on the contexts, available resources and the learning results to be achieved. So, 150 hours is the maximum time needed for the A1+A2 levels for a PLA course and teaching all the 6 modules laid out by ACM is mandatory but the teacher does have flexibility to change the contents and even replace the whole thing on what they would like to teach. I don’t see an exam as a requirement in any of the regulations and the framework laid out by ACM.
In Other words, teachers do have a high degree of flexibility in choosing and designing their own cirriculum and evaluating their students. There’s a high chance of having a different material and evaluating methodology within the same school and it is upto the Teacher. However the courses shall be audited by the responsible authorities.
Obtaining level A2 of elementary user language proficiency or higher proves knowledge of the Portuguese language, in accordance with the provisions of paragraph d) of paragraph 2 of article 25 of Decree-Law no. 237-A/ 2006, of December 14, which approves the Portuguese Nationality Eligibility Regulation, in its current wording.
Thanks means no exam .
May I ask if online PLA is offered to ARI holders living overseas (not in Portugal)?
Hi Kevin
Yes the PLA course is fully online.
You have to attend 90% of classes and require you to have camera on at all times.
Excellent thanks, where did you find this? This seems to all be at physical schools, is there a similar list for online PLA courses?
What is the study material used for the online and offline courses. Do they have their own course material or are there standard text books.
Hi everyone
Yes, PLA is an official level A2 PT proficiency, applicable for citizenship or Permanent resident.
Diario da republica
and Ordinance no. 183/2020 of 5 August
Yes, the courses can be taken online, and Edpro do provide Intensive online PLA courses ( around 2 weeks).
PLA A2 courses are based on 6 modules -provided material - ( 3 UFCD units A1 + 3 UFC units A2) and the student must follow the aimed policy (Attend 90% of courses + interaction + working).
Looks like CIPLE test slots are open for next year in Lisbon. Anyone signing up?
From the discussions above, I take it edpropt.org is legit and the PLA course they offer is sufficient for citizenship requirements? They are asking for a lot of personal data for registration, including residence card numbers and scan of the card itself. If there are any contrary or cautionary experiences, please let me know. Planning to register for the Feb course.
Please keep us updated with your process.
Hi all, has anyone done the EDpro course recently? Just wondering if the course can be done on an iPad or a laptop is mandatory?
Cheers.
Can be done on iPad and even mobile allowed.
For a good user experience better on iPad or laptop
Have been following the courses with AEP via EDPRO
Please bear in mind that EDPRO is an association that manage courses with the official bodies ( qualifica centers )
Intensive courses are available.
Got my PLA after 7 weeks and applied for citizenship with the certificate (issued 3 weeks after the end of classes)
I am about to take the course in two weeks. Can I ask your impressions or the standards and requirements? I really struggle with languages. I know it probably varies from course/instructor as EdPro seems to be a matching service, but I am just curious for any tips before the class starts as well for how participants are scored/evaluated.
Hello
No worries and no stress even if the language is challenging.
You have to follow the policy:
Attending a minim of 90% (so it a bit challenging when it s about intensive)
Participate and interact
Do the homework and exercices
That s it !
Portuguese seems to be a difficult language but honestly enjoyed learning.
The PLA is not aiming to fail students. The mindset is integration, and interacting
The leitmotif: Considering the 2 months of courses as a life
project since getting 4 hours daily is demanding.
Good luck
Thank you. That is really reassuring and what I was hoping to hear. I don’t mind putting in the time, but the reason I chose PLA instead of CIPLE exam prep was not to have everything coming down to one big exam day. The PLA route seems like a much better fit for me.
Undoubtedly much better
My mother in law is on our application and has read somewhere (she’s now can’t find where) that the language requirement is not applicable if you’re over 60, which she is.
Has anyone come across this specifically. The fourth post in the thread mentions no exam but if the exam requirement is effectively gone, where does that leave over 60s
(She’ll do the online thing anyway as she loves to learn new stuff)
