Open a bank account in Europe online for a non-EU resident

Hi everyone,
I’m a West African professional currently working remotely for a US-based company. I’m looking to open a bank account in Europe.

Unfortunately, I’ve been facing ongoing challenges with local banks in my region due to heightened security regulations. Because the area is affected by terrorism-related risks, international bank transfers are heavily monitored, frequently delayed, or sometimes blocked altogether. This creates major issues for receiving my salary and managing international payments reliably.

I’m hoping to find a stable, compliant European banking solution that works well for digital nomads or non-EU residents in a similar situation. Any recommendations or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Wise, revolut, paypal etc .. do not work in africa.

Surprised you haven’t gotten any replies. Does it need to be in Europe if you’re working for a US-based company? And what country are you from? Hard to advise without knowing your country of residency.

I used a company called Bordr to open a Portuguese bank account and found their service to be very good. It was a relatively fast process.
