Porto - How is their workload?

We are most fortunate to have a biometrics appointment at the end of July in Porto.

Any recent experiences please of the speed of processing thereafter?

A post in November 2024, noted a back log in Porto due to application overload.

Congrats on getting a Bios appointment under the “new 2025 AIMA process” (documents processed electronically, pay €6k fees at the appointment, etc.).

That new process lives on a whole other planet from pre-2025 Bios… we’ve seen people go from Bios to cards in about 11 weeks and as little as 6 weeks this year.

Meanwhile people who did their Bios in Porto on the old process (last year or earlier) will be stuck in the slow lane :expressionless:

any though on Braga ?

March 13 2025 biometrics in Porto under new system. Paid the fee on the spot. Portal says status is Transferido SIISEF. No news on cards yet!

same here ,

Thank you for the replies.

Not very encouraging.

Erm… how is that not encouraging? 10 weeks from Bios to what is basically approval (“Situação do Requerimento: Transferido SIISEF” as per this thread) is a miracle in AIMA Land.

People under the pre-2025 process who had their Bios in January 2023 are just getting their approvals now… 123 weeks later! And they may yet have problems paying their €6k as the online DUC system seems to be broken for some. Whereas you’ll pay (or already have paid) that at your Bios - with no worry whether the payment went through or not.

I’d be dancing on the ceiling if I had your good fortune. :shamrock:

You still need the card!

Sorry if you feel that I should be delighted, but we just had lunch with friends who travelled to Porto last month, stayed in a hotel the night before, went to the AIMA appointment and at the desk they were told that the appointment had been cancelled.

I struggle to find positivity in this process.

I am also curious to know whether @sandeepgehlaut1 and @apsinghmd are in fact dancing on the ceiling.

As I mentioned above, 2025 process folks are getting their cards in weeks. I’d love to be just a few weeks away from cards, rather than spend another year waiting in despair for any sign of life from AIMA.

Seriously, those with 2025 Bios are incredibly lucky. A cancelled appointment is indeed bad luck - but I assume they’ll get another this year, and probably still get their cards before the rest of us do.

Honestly, getting a residency card 2 years later is something I am ok with for myself. Especially if it counts towards citizenship.

It has much to do with personal circumstances and past experiences

People who are 75 years of age view a 2 year wait differently to someone in their 50’s.

Further, with hindsight, some may wish that they had not believed what they were told at the outset.

For sure, I am just saying that I hope I only need to wait 2 years personally. And that it doesn’t become 10years to get a citizenship.

We paid more than 8000 on the AIMA desk ? Why people saying 6K

Not dancing yet :grinning:
