During my residence card renewal, I paid the renewal fee three days ago, but I still haven’t received the step to upload the required documents. Has anyone experienced the same issue? Is there any way to resolve it?
My daughter’s payment took 3 weeks to show. Totally ridiculous

Yup. You can email geral@aima.gov.pt but I have never had a reply from them. They are totally useless.
been sending email twice a week since March 2026…and no reply. Maybe only God knows when the problem will be solved…
The same thing happened to me. It took several days (maybe 4 or 5 if I remember) for me to be able to upload the documents. I think it’s because it takes some time to process and review the payment. Hang in there!
Just sent a registered letter to AIMA. Someone in AIMA office will have to sign for it.

How long has it been since you made the payment? If I go directly to AIMA, can I inquire at any branch, or do I have to go to the Lisbon headquarters?
Lisbon has a special unit for GV. It appears now it handles even the card issuance, which is a change from the past where the cards were issued by an AIMA branch that handled the appointment. I do not know if you can visit that unit in person by yourself or if you can only send your lawyer there.

I paid my fee online on 16th June and got an email reply on 25th june which included a receipt and it also changed on the aima site to load documents within 10 days. I loaded them same day and got my approval 21st August. It was pretty smooth running which isn’t everyone’s experience but suppose I’ve been lucky
is this an ARI or D7 card renewal?
D7 card renewal after 2 years so now have an additional 3 years. Just awaiting new card but the first one took 6 months so im not holding my breathe for it to come anytime soon, however I have been issued a receipt by AIMA via the login to use for travel
unfortunately, there is a parallel universe for ARI card holders, government/AIMA makes sure they inflict the maximum pain and suffering on us..
I can answer this. My parents recently received their D7 residence card renewals, which took about two and a half months. Mine is an ARI renewal.
When does your card expire? There is a “Report a Problem” option in the AIMA renewal portal, but it can only be used within one month before the card expires.
Expired in Jan 2026. Of course I’ve already used the contactenos form report the issue and no response as usual…
Did you go to the site to ask? A friend of mine waited a month for the system to be normal.
